The basic tenets of secular spiritualism are as follows:

  • As matter and energy are interchangeable, energy and spirit are also interchangeable. This means that matter and spirit are interchangeable, and in fact the universe is made up of spirit in the form of matter, energy, and pure spirit. (Note: this is not a statement of dogma, but a hypothesis that was invented for the purpose of giving physicists and metaphysicists something to talk about.)
  • Secular spiritualism discourages belief. People should always question anything they are told. People should open their minds to various possibilities and learn from their direct experience.
  • The most important aspect of any religion is the bond of fellowship that builds among its members.
  • As music is the international language and is a good means of raising peoples’ spirits, it should be included as one of the most important aspects of religious gatherings.
  • Since aggressive proselytization is responsible for most of the religious strife in the world, proselytization is prohibited.
  • Natural substances such as cannabis and psilocybin can help spiritual development. They should be regarded as natural sacraments.
  • In addition to the natural sacraments, there are man-made sacraments, such as alcohol, LSD, and the twelve  bar blues progression.
  • All sacraments must be used carefully to prevent slipping into abuse.
