The government of the United States is in the unusual position of having both abdicated its responsibility to the people and overstepped its authority as a governing agent.

It has abdicated its responsibility by allowing corporate businesses to run out of control, vastly  increasing their profits at the expense of the majority of the citizenry. It has exacerbated the plight of the victims of capitalism by cutting social spending. This has caused a great increase in homelessness and hunger among the populace, not to mention a serious decline in the system of public education.

While shirking its social duties, it has greatly overstepped its authority by engaging in a number of wars. In addition to the obvious damage done through its military presence around the world, it causes great damage on this continent through its war on drugs.

Although some people might think that the current situation will require revolutionary action to overcome, this blog will attempt to describe evolutionary actions to perform. The term revolution describes circular motion, meaning that revolutionary actions usually come around full circle to replace one bad government with another.

Evolution, on the other hand, describes progress or moving forward. To prevent being caught spinning our wheels with revolutionary action, we must strive for total non-violence. The purpose of this blog is to suggest non-violent ways to overcome the problems created by poor government.

The first priority of this site is to help to provide solutions for the problem of homelessness. Some churches open their doors to shelter homeless people when the temperatures get dangerously low. The Church of Universal Soul would strive to build homes for the homeless rather than churches.

Another priority of this site is an end to the drug war. The government has greatly overstepped its authority by banning the use of certain drugs, especially cannabis, which is much safer than both alcohol and tobacco. The church declares that natural substances such as cannabis and psilocybin are natural sacraments, and their use can aid in peoples’ spiritual development. The church will request the government to allow their use.
